Simris Group is a biologics company identifying high value, natural, biologically active compounds found in microalgae and cyanobacteria to extract for applications in skincare, nutrition, and biopharmaceuticals. The company sustainably grows microalgae and cyanobacteria at industrial scale within its photobioreactor facility whereby conditions are optimized for production of these high-value compounds.

The main production for their operations is the algae factory in Hammenhög. Simultaneously, they research in Berlin to explore and develop new applications for compounds from cyanobacteria and microalgae. The Role

Working as a maintenance technician at Simris Group entails a pivotal role where your daily contributions are critical to maintaining and improving production processes. You'll have the freedom to independently plan and adjust your workdays according to maintenance needs, requiring a flexible and proactive approach. The role is diverse, expecting you to handle everything from technical maintenance and repairs to administrative tasks and preventive measures to ensure smooth operations.

As a new maintenance technician at Simris Group, you will also serve as a significant support resource for the cultivation team and assist as needed. Over time, this will provide you with a broad understanding of various parts of the production process.

In addition to technical maintenance responsibilities, you'll also handle administrative tasks such as purchasing spare parts, compliance with regulations, and invoice management. This gives you the opportunity to have control over and influence various aspects of the operation.

OM TJÄNSTEN
On behalf of our Simris Alg, we are now looking for a Service Technician who will work with varied tasks within service, repairs and production development at the production facility in Hammenhög. You will work with mechanical equipment such as pumps, in IT, plumbing and partly with electricity. You will also be responsible for contacting and bringing in external suppliers at times when this is required.

You will be part of a small team, which also means that you will support other employees in their daily work in production. There is an opportunity to gain experience in several areas of the company as you master your own area of responsibility.

As a Service Technician, you will be on-call during one week in every 4-6 weeks during weekdays, as well as weekends. It is therefore important that you live in the local area, for example in Simrishamn, Ystad or Tomelilla, in order to be able to get to the workplace quickly.

You are offered:


* This is a consultancy assignment, which means that you will be employed by Academic Work and work as a consultant at Simris Alg. You will be offered a 6-month consultancy contract with a possibility of being over-recruited if all parties involved are satisfied with the collaboration.

ARBETSUPPGIFTER
LAB WORK:


* Production of starter cultures for each new batch from shaker flask through to our 100L photobioreactors
* Calibration & maintenance of laboratory equipment in line with our protocols
* Servicing of laboratory equipment and the management of any suppliers required in relation to this
* Supporting projects with the intention to identify the optimal growth conditions for different specifies of microalgae and cyanobacteria and for the individual compounds we are interested in isolating
* Maintaining a clean laboratory environment as part of our GMP processes and procedures
* Maintain culture library
* Preparation of nutrient solutions
* Following all safety guidelines & procedures for your work and in the handling of any chemicals


DATA ANALYSIS:


* Daily collection of environmental data (mainly temperature, light & pH) from across the farm
* Daily calculation of biomass growth rates for each photobioreactor
* Mapping biomass grow rates to environmental data to identify possible modifications to growth conditions


ADMINISTRATION:


* Purchase of raw materials required for laboratory work including consumables and equipment
* Maintain laboratory records and logbooks
* Ensure that all laboratory routines are documented and up to date with approved procedures
* Timely approval of invoices relating to your purchases and supporting the Finance department in completing month-end financial processes

- Natural science degree (e.g., Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology)
- 2+ years of experience from working in a similar lab environment
- Experience of using analytical lab equipment such as HPLC, GC, PCR
- Good command of English language
